在眾多比賽項⽬中，撐竿跳對⼩時候的我們來說，曾經是最可怕、最棘⼿、也最難完成的⼀項——或許是因為它的⾼度，以及摔到錯誤⼀邊的風險，那裡沒有安全墊等著。感覺就像試圖⽤借來的翅膀⾶翔。儘管它既可怕又困難，但如果你的竿⼦沒有掉下來，那麼即使是你⾃⼰的跌落，感覺也沒那麼可怕了——幾乎就像在夢中落地。我必須說，那是⼀種快樂的跌落。

Among many games from the event, pole vault used to be the scariest, trickiest, and hardest to do as a school kid—maybe because of its height and the risk of falling on the wrong side, where no safety mat waited. It felt like trying to fly with a borrowed wing. Even if it was scary and hard, if your pole didn’t fall, then even your own fall felt less frightening—almost like landing in a dream. A happy fall, I must say.
