大黑天（Mahakala）是佛教中佛陀忿怒威猛的化身，也是印度教中濕婆神的忿怒相。在密宗中被視為護法神，擁有深黑色的肌膚，象徵驅散無明與負能量的力量。

在這幅作品中，我描繪的是祂雙臂的形象，擁有三隻眼睛，頭戴由八顆人骨頭顱組成的頭飾。據說，大黑天常被兀鷹與豺狼環繞，象徵與死亡及保護的聯繫。

在加德滿都，有一座非常著名的大黑天廟。傳說一位密宗僧人曾在加德滿都山谷的天空中，看見這位神祇在烏雲中飛行，於是請求當時的國王為其建廟，好讓神明能永久居住其中。然而，這位神祇婉拒了請求，但允諾每逢星期六都會造訪該廟。

因此，每到星期六，這座廟宇香火鼎盛，成千上萬的信徒前來朝拜，虔誠迎接神明的降臨。

Mahakala is wrathful and fierce manifestation of Buddha in Buddhism and Shiva in Hinduism. He is a protector deity in Vajrayana Buddhism. He has dark black skin which symbolizes the ability to dispel ignorance and negativity. Here I have presented his two arms form with three eyes and adorned with eight human skulls. It is said that he is often surrounded with vultures and jackals. Kathmandu has one of the very popular Mahakala temple. It is said that a Tantric priest saw the deity flying across the sky among dark clouds above the Kathmandu valley, therefore he requested the king at that time to build a temple for the deity so that the god can reside there permanently. However the deity refused the request but promised to visit the temple every Saturday. Hence every Saturday the temple is very busy with thousands of devotees paying their visit to the god.
