So-Young Ahn was born in 1979 in Seoul. Since her childhood, she has always loved painting and writing. Therefore, pursuing arts studies was an obvious choice.
In her mid-thirties, after a profound introspection, she has been working on liquid modernity and woman's identity. As an artist loving painting, she enjoys her life to the fullest.
With the series of a journey of one’s own, Ahn Soyoung introduces nomadic thinking to her contemporaries who are living the incomplete present. The woman in the pictures who is free to go anywhere is not limited by time and space. As she does not belong anywhere, she is only headed towards where she feels like going.
The age of this woman is hard to specify in the paintings, because she is an adult woman, but she has a characteristic girlish expression. The smile of a woman with a girl's heart reminds of her lost inner purity. She has the happiest and fullest smile in nature.
