GONJO Mafune

1984 born in Fukushima, Japan. After graduating from Tama Art University, moved to Sweden. MFA with Konstfack. After a one-year project at the Royal University College of Fine Art, she started working as an independent and freelance artist.
Currently based in Sweden, active in Europe, the United States and Japan.
Collections of the National Museum of Sweden, Suwa Garasu no Sato Museum(Japan), and Museum of American Glass(U.S.A). Her representative work, “Contradiction in daily life”, a dress made of broken glass pieces, was born out of living in Northern Europe and experiencing difficulties in making arts works. Ever since childhood, whenever a turning point occurs, she has a positive attitude to change the environment around her through her actions and the creation of her works.
