Liane Nouri is a New York-based artist whose work is informed by architectural training and explores the intersection of function and aesthetics. Nouri’s training at The City of College in New York and work experience led her to develop a highly specific artistic style and design philosophy.

Nouri uses materials typically found on construction sites – wood, plastic, nails, latex paint – and wields them with rigor and unyielding geometry. Her color palette – celestial shades of gray and white, potent turquoise and magenta – is inspired by the rugged beauty of the Hudson Valley landscape. Nouri applies these colors in many thin plaster layers on square canvases. These layers create reflective illusions of light and shadow and create an otherworldly effect, as if each piece was floating instead of being affixed to a wall.
