Margaret Saliske, a sculptor who has been exhibiting for over thirty years, explores abstraction in three- dimensions. Her cunning sculptures are most often inspired by the interplay of light and shadow; the finished works are an effort to make this inherently fl eeting dynamic more lasting and tangible. The tension of this impossible artistic task is evident in these works. Each piece has incredible depth and movement, and rewards active viewing from all angles.

Saliske has stated, “There is an ambiguity in the various planes that I would like the viewer to resolve by walking around the piece and watching how it appears without reference to other situations. The pieces are an intimate size and must be approached to be experienced.” This tension between light and dark, stillness and motion, reticence and welcoming, is endlessly intriguing.
