    D. Jack Solomon is a celebrated figure in contemporary American art whose work combines a modernist palette, a constructivist technique, and a pop-art appreciation for mass-produced shapes and iconography. Solomon received his B.A. from San Diego State University, his M.À. from San Francisco State University; he has taught at a number of institutions, most notably for twenty-eight years at the Parsons School of Design, including at their Center of Advanced Design in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Solomon has exhibited throughout the world and has received grants from the National Endowment of the Arts and the Pollock Krasner Foundation.

Solomon describes his creative juxtaposition as a “gestalt”, stating: “Inventing a unique structure that positions disparate elements to a whole is one of the most challenging and motivating facets of making my art.” His work relishes unexpected intersections — of mesmerizing circles and vigorous lines, of conflicting movements, of industrial power and the flimsiness of a magazine advertisement, of rigor and mirth. Each of his paintings is a machine of perpetual motion, and succeeds in capturing a rare moment of grace in the midst of modern pandemonium.
