Muchlis Fachri (1993), known as Muklay, is an Indonesian street and urban artist who is popularly know for his colorful illustrations depicting the sophistication of Indonesian youth. he received his formal education in arts training at the Jakarta State University and has actively been participating in exhibition since. Elements of grafti and pop art can be identied through his playful body of work, using a wide variety of medium from drawing, painting, woodcut, street art, and digital illustration. His works consist of a number of western symbolisms and cartoon characters that he infuse into his own artistic language.
Muklay received several awards including being named as one of Forbes Indonesia 30 under 30 (2020), 3rd place in Indonesia Art Awards (2015) and best artwork at Nalar Sensani Seni (2015) Galeri Nasional Indonesia. His solo exhibitions include Overpoluted at Secret Fresh Gallery Manila (2023), A Day In My Life at All About Art Gallery Singapore (2023), Distraction at YOD gallery Tokyo (2023), Perplexity Relation at SH Artspace, Ginza, Tokyo (2020) See Something Strange at Artotel Thamrin, Jakarta (2016).
As an visual artist, Muklay also doing many collaboration with both local and international brand such as Uniqlo, Coach, IKEA, MG Motor, Grab, New Era, Hydroask, Gramedia, Citilink,3Second, League and many more.
