The Yogyakarta artist Satar Kaldera (b. 1995) uses Noir pop to interpret an ironical and dark imagery with the combination of popular figurative components, including the feline character named "Chiaroscuro”.
Satar developed the essence of art brut style to manifest his aesthetics. His work employs powerful contours that are dark and often shot through with variable insightful and grotesque elements.
Satar draws upon various social perspectives to reflect the hegemony of the culture industry and to channel his tyrannical-like visuals.
He has worked across mediums of art such as painting, sculpture, writing, experimental and digital art. Satar has exhibited in cities including Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Bandung, Moscow, Vancouver, Pennsylvania, and London.
