The 12-year-old gallery LEE & BAE was founded in Haeundae, Busan, Korea, in 2010. It is located on the riverside of Suyeong, boasting a beautiful landscape, and occupies an area of 430 square meters. LEE & BAE organizes exhibitions with different themes every two months. Since its inception, the primary aim of the gallery has been to promote academic research and exhibitions of Korean contemporary art. Gradually, international exhibition exchange has also become one of the main objectives of the gallery.
The gallery focuses on promoting both established and emerging Korean artists in the field of contemporary art, with a particular emphasis on exploring the identity of Korean contemporary art and its social aspects. Collaborating with its represented and contracted artists, the gallery curates exhibitions and plans academic exchanges. LEE & BAE's represented contemporary artists employ various media in their artworks to emphasize Korea's social and democratic characteristics, as well as document diverse global perspectives through visual art.
LEE & BAE is dedicated to developing international collaboration and art exchange. Over the years, it has been selected to participate in international art fairs to showcase Korean art to a global audience. A significant number of artworks by the gallery's represented artists have found a place in the collections of major art museums and private collectors. Besides its primary focus on Korean art, LEE & BAE also explores the cultural characteristics of Korea, viewing it through the lens of Asian art history, with the hope of garnering global attention for Korean contemporary art.
