    「采泥藝術」將於2020「台北當代」藝術博覽會展出畫廊經紀的三位傑出旅外華人女性抽象藝術家的作品,包括:

    池農深,畢業於柏林藝術大學碩士,並獲德國文化部女青年藝術家獎,目前旅居紐約;
    謝貽娟,畢業於英國皇家藝術學院碩士,並於費爾茅斯藝術學院獲得藝術哲學博士。旅英期間與Michael Goedhuis畫廊長期合作;
    王淑鈴,畢業於英國皇家藝術學院碩士,在英國為知名畫廊Victoria Miro Gallery長期合作藝術家。

    這三位藝術家皆長期旅居海外,有豐富國外美術館展歷及收藏紀錄。其創作藉由東西方文化交融與轉化,並結合自身內在的詮釋與感性,發展出屬於各自獨特一格的抽象語彙。在「女性抽象藝術」逐漸成為當代藝術發展的一門顯學時,無論是理性抽象與感性抒情,這三位藝術家皆可作為華人女性藝術家的代表,在國際藝壇以自由豐富的視覺隱喻,並在流轉變異中呈現形而上的精神性與挑戰創作的無限性。

    藝術沙龍: 周慶輝

    1965 年於台灣台北。台灣知名攝影藝術家。本為新聞攝影記者,後為滿足創作慾望,專心投入影像創作。習於拍攝地的長期蹲點,進行大型影像創作計劃,並獲獎無數。作品曾多次受邀至柏林、法蘭克福、佛羅倫斯、雪梨、海牙、東京、香港、北京、上海、廣州等地展出,也廣受國內外美術館及私人機構典藏。此外,自攝影延伸發展的攝影限量書出版事業,亦榮獲iF 設計獎、德國紅點設計獎、金蝶獎等國內外大獎,足見對於作品品質的嚴謹要求與水準,備受國內外肯定。

    近30 年影像生涯,從捕捉扣人心弦的新聞現場,到創造充滿戲劇張力的場景,由紀實攝影過渡到編導式攝影,在最新創作《人的莊園》中,周慶輝更從以往攝影家固有被認定的身份「獵人」轉變為「導演」,作品中怪誕而令人不安的存在感有如個人風格的銘記,最是令人驚艷。

    Chini Gallery will present three remarkable oversea Taiwanese female abstract artists represented by the gallery at the 2020 Taipei Dangdai.

    Currently living in New York, Wei Jane Chir graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts, and was awarded a grant from Germany’s Department of Culture.
    Jo Hsieh also graduated from the Royal College of Art, and later received her PhD in Fine Art from the Falmouth College of Art. During her time in the UK, Hsieh had a long-term partnership with Michael Goedhuis Gallery.
    Suling Wang graduated from the Royal College of Art and has a long history of collaboration with the established British art gallery, Victoria Miro Gallery.

    The three artists possess extensive oversea living experiences, and have held exhibitions in art institutions in Taiwan and abroad, where their works were included in various art collections. Through their creative work, they have presented the world abundant creations that unify and transform the Eastern and Western culture, incorporated with their individual interpretation and sensibility that have given rise to highly distinctive abstract vocabularies. As “female abstract art” becomes more and more prominent in the field of contemporary art, their works, rational or lyrical, have made them genuinely representative among their peers in the Chinese-speaking community. In the international art scene, they have also demonstrated the abstract spirituality as well as unlimited creativity through their free, rich visual expression and fluid, varying representation.

    SALON : CHOU Ching-Hui

    A well-known Taiwanese photographer, Chou Ching-Hui was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1965. Originally a photojournalist, Chou became a professional photographer to satisfy his longing for artistic creation. He always spends a long time staying at the chosen locations for photography, and has won numerous prizes and awards for his large-scale projects. His work has been invited to be shown in Berlin, Frankfurt, Florence, Sydney, Hague, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and has been collected by museums and private institutions in Taiwan and abroad. In addition, the limited photography albums derived from his projects have won prestigious international and Taiwanese awards, including the iF Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, and Golden Butterfly Award, showing how his high-quality works produced with strict standards and requirements are positively recognized and received in the world.

    Throughout his career as a photographer that has lasted almost three decades, Chou’s subject matter has shifted from captivating journalistic events to creatively theatrical scenes, and his style has changed from documentary photography to fabricated photography. In his latest project, Animal Farm, Chou changed the role of photographer as a “hunter” and turned himself into a “director,” and amazed his audience with a bizarre and unsettling sense of existence in his characteristic way.

    池農深 Wei-Jane Chir

    1955年生於台灣桃園。曾就讀於舊金山州立大學繪畫與版畫系,柏林藝術大學自由繪畫系,1992年在柏林藝術大學完成MFA學位,目前定居於紐約。曾獲德國文化部女青年藝術家獎,2003年製作拍攝的《葉蕾蕾傳奇》紀錄片,榮獲第51屆哥倫布國際電影電視節銅牌獎。國際展覽經驗豐富,受邀於各大美術館展出,包括:大阪美術館、皇后美術館、慕尼黑國家畫廊、台北市立美術館等。作品也受世界各地各單位收藏,包括:德國Bad Muenster 藝術中心、德國沃夫斯堡藝術中心、美國賓州Southern Alleghenies美術館、台北市立美術館、國立台灣美術館、Jane Voorhees Zimmerli美術館、紐澤西州立美術館、澤西市立美術館、紐澤西蒙克立美術館、紐澤西摩瑞斯美術館、美國華盛頓DC國會圖書館等。

    Wei-Jane Chir was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan in 1955. After graduating from San Francisco State University, majoring in painting and printmaking, Chir later obtained her MFA from University of Art Berlin and then has received Grant from Department of Culture in Berlin. She lives and works in New York now. Chir has exhibited widely in museums including New Jersey State Museum and Queens Museum of Art in USA, Berlin Art Institute Gallery, Osaka Museum in Japan, Taipei Fine Art Museum in Taipei. Her artworks have been collected by New Jersey State Museum, Jersey City Museum, Library of Congress, Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Museum, Southern Alleghemies Museum of Art, and Taipei Fine Arts Museum, etc. Chir currently lives and works in New York.

    在從事創作近30年的歲月裡,創作媒材範圍廣泛,包括版畫、油彩、水墨、影像,以及裝置藝術。作品以抽象中帶著意象的創作風格受各界注目,體現藝術家所欲探索的藝術精神—人與周遭人、事、物自然精神相契合。本次展出的「傷痕系列」,正是在這樣的思考脈絡下,以繪畫作品傳達著最為精簡、卻濃郁的油彩筆觸,以色彩和肌理的視觸覺性,呈現其內心強烈的情感所抽離而出的心象痕跡。

    In a nearly three-decade career, the artist has engaged in a wide range of media, including printmaking, oil, ink, video and installation. Her work captures the world’s attention for blending imageries into abstract expression, which embodies the artist’s exploration in art—the spiritual harmony between human beings and their surrounding people, happenings, things and natural energies. On view in this exhibition is her Wound series. Following her previous creative context and artistic concept, the body of paintings shows simple yet intense brushstrokes, forming a vivid visual tactility with colors and texture to convey mental imageries refined from her strong, fierce emotions.

    謝貽娟 Jo Hsieh

    1967年出生於台灣,1991年赴倫敦求學,1998年獲英國「皇家藝術學院」碩士學位。2002年獲英國「費爾茅斯藝術學院」藝術哲學博士學位,後定居英國,2015年回到台灣,直至完成她藝術創作的最後階段,2017年9月逝世於台北。在旅英創作期間,曾與Michael Goedhuis當代畫廊合作,在紐約與倫敦進行個展,參加「邁阿密藝術博覽會」,「紐約國際亞洲藝術博覽會」等博覽會。曾獲Art Review藝術獎首獎,作品亦受英國皇家藝術學院、英國佳士得公司、英國、紐約畫廊機構收藏。

    Jo Hsieh was born in Taiwan in 1967. She went to study in London in 1991, first obtained her master’s degree from the Royal College of Art, then her doctorate from Falmouth College of Art, and eventually settled down in the UK. Returned to Taiwan and continued to make art in 2015 and passed away in September, 2017. Jo has been cooperated with Michael Goedhuis to have solo exhibitions in New York and London. Besides, she has participated in some well-known art fairs, such as Art Palm Beach in Miami and the international art fair in New York. Jo was the winner of Art Review Arts Award in 2002. Her works has been collected by Royal college of Art, Christie’s in UK and the galleries in London and New York.

    謝貽娟的主要作品可粗略分兩個時期:早期的「自由抽象」與單色畫「藍色時期」。其中「自由抽象」時期,作品一方面帶有「超現實的抽象主義」特徵,另一方面借鑒西方抽象藝術大師,特別是康定斯基一脈對「音樂性」的強調。1997年開始,謝貽娟開始轉向藍色的單色繪畫,以表現無限深邃的時間與空間,她稱之為「非空間」(None-Space)。後期她改用一種稀有的藍色礦物粉末,直接以雙手塗抹於畫布,這是藝術家早期「自由抽象」中書寫性的延續,但她用強調身體性更為親密的創作方式,創造出寧靜,虔敬的空間,宛如靈魂深處的凝視。對於謝貽娟來說,藝術作為她經驗到世界的界面,藉由藝術語言進入她的藝術世界,才能理解到她對時間和空間存在的思考,及感受她面對信仰與虛無等問題的掙扎。

    Jo’s oeuvre can be divided into two periodic groups, which are her early Free Abstraction and the monochromatic Blue Period. The works of the free abstract stage had a surrealist abstract quality; she was also influenced by Western abstract masters, in particular the “musicality” stressed by the Kandinsky school. In 1997, Jo began to move onto mono-chromatic painting. She gradually transitioned to even purer geometric abstract to express boundless time and space that she called None-Space. Later in this stage, she gave up ordinary paints and adopted a rare blue mineral pigments that she applied directly onto the canvas with her hands. At the center of the paintings, there is a circular symbol like seen in calligraphy, forming a light blue halo like a mysterious eye. This is an extension of the calligraphic character of the Free Abstraction period work early in the artist’s career, however, she used a more intimate creative method that emphasized physicality to create a tranquil and reverent space, like gazing deep down into the soul. For Jo Hsieh, art functioned as an interface for her to experience the world. One can only enter her art world through her artistic language, which allows people to comprehend her thinking about time and space as well as perceiving her struggles about faith and emptiness.

    王淑鈴 Suling Wang

    1968年出生於台灣台中,1997年獲英國「中央聖馬丁藝術與設計學院」學士學位,1999年獲倫敦「皇家藝術學院」碩士學位。畢業後即廣受全球各地美術館與畫廊邀展,於2006年受倫敦國家畫廊邀請展出,2007年受邀展出於美國休斯頓美術館與澳洲維多利亞國家畫廊。而後他與英國Victoria Miro Gallery合作,並將於今年於Art Basel Miami 2019展出。王淑鈴的繪畫廣受國際重要美術專業機構收藏,包括:美國紐約古根漢美術館、美國加州洛杉磯當代藝術美術館、美國猶他州美術館 、辛辛那提美術館、美國國務院藝術大使館、瑞士銀行、英國倫敦證券交易所與台灣的美國在臺協會。

    Suling Wang was born in Taiwan in 1968. She completed her B.A. at Central Saint Martins in London, UK in 1997, and then received her M.A. from the Royal College of Art in 1999. Since then she has exhibited widely in museums and galleries in several countries across the world and has been included in exhibitions at The National Gallery in London in 2006, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, USA and National Gallery of Victoria, Australia in 2007. Then, she started to cooperate with Victoria Miro Gallery which will represent Wang’s artworks in Art Basel Miami this year. Besides, her works have been collected by institutions including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles; the Utah Museum of Fine Arts; the Cincinnati Art Museum; Art in Embassies, US Department of State; UBS Group AG, and the American Institute in Taiwan.

    根植於自小在台灣的成長經驗,王淑鈴的作品體現其所受到台灣民間典故、佛道哲學思想與書法氣韻等影響,具有強烈的東方藝術文化內涵。而長期旅居英國,浸濡於西方文化,西畫所重視的創作元素與技巧,也同時表現於其作品中。本次將展出作品主要結合中國山水意象與西方抽象繪畫風格為創作基底,融合個人的情緒與意念,大膽且揮灑的筆法搭配氣勢恢宏的構圖,在形的流動與轉化之際,並以全然的抽象語彙,開創一種立基於時間、空間與文化本質的交錯,根植於天地造化的藝術語境,並融入自身獨特且豐富的感性,開啟當代抽象藝術獨樹一幟的另一篇章。

    The distinct Eastern artistic and cultural content in Suling Wang’s work embody her personal influences that stem from her childhood experiences rooted in Taiwan, including Taiwanese folkloric allusions, Buddhist philosophy, and calligraphic artistry. At the same time, the creative elements and techniques emphasized in traditional Western painting influenced by years of living in UK are also reflected in her work. Best known for her large-scale abstract works that combine a creative foundation in Chinese shanshui imagery with Western abstract painting styles that are harmonized through personal emotion and contemplation, her magnificent compositions are accompanied by bold, unbridled brush techniques and epitomize a profusion and abundance of personal sentiment and conceptualization. Through a thoroughly abstract vocabulary, she creates an interfusion grounded in temporal, spatial, and cultural elements; and an artistic lexicon rooted in heaven, earth, and all creation. This exhibition hopes to provide art lovers from around the world with an in-depth understanding of Suling Wang’s exquisite creative strength in abstract expressionism, and how she integrates her abundant unique personal sensibilities by blending and developing Eastern and Western cultures and creative styles.
