《幸福》這幅作品展現了佛教的核心教義，即真正的幸福源自於內心。這並不是說我們可以讓自己快樂那麼簡單，而是該深刻地認識到:雖然我們都在尋找幸福，但卻仍在由四種物質元素(地水火風)所組成的外部物質世界尋求快樂。真正的幸福來自於理解物質世界的無意義，並喚醒內心的智慧。
This is an interpretation of the backbone of Buddhist teaching, which says that true happiness comes from within. This is not as simplistic as saying we can make ourselves happy, but the profound recognition that while we all seek happiness, we seek it outside in the material world, represented by the four circles of material elements. True happiness comes from understanding the meaninglessness of the material world, and awakening the Buddha within.
