茲德涅克・康芙娜 Zdenek Konvalina (1979~)
捷克藝術家 Zdenek Konvalina 目前居住並工作於德國柏林，他的繪畫作品曾受邀展出於英國倫敦、加拿大多倫多、和美國休士頓等地。在成為專職藝術家前，他以芭蕾舞蹈家的身份活躍於美國、亞洲和歐洲，並獲得眾多藝術成就獎項，如2008年的多倫多勞力士獎和2012年英國國家舞蹈獎。期間受委託設計芭蕾舞作品的舞台，如2010年意大利佛羅倫斯的《無常》、2017年在柏林德意志歌劇院的《滴水》，以及在加拿大與Guelph交響樂團合作繪製表演場景。
本次在台北國際藝術博覽會將展示一系列抽象繪畫作品，其創作受到往昔芭蕾舞蹈家身分的薰染與連結，藝術家試圖鏈接彼此間存在的共通性，過程則依循身體與潛意識的即時反饋，並追求實踐潛意識中的概念、思想、形式、記憶及提示等，著眼於探究物質與精神的比例關係，如模糊與明確、遙遠與咫尺、運動與靜止，藉由運用各種工具（如噴漆、氣筆、畫筆、油蠟等），藉各式細膩不張揚的色彩及不斷多變生產的痕跡，來探索物質與精神之間的比例關係，最終，調和出藝術家內心的和諧圖景。
Czech artist Zdenek Konvalina was born in 1979 and now lives in Berlin. His paintings have been invited to exhibit in London, Toronto, and Houston. Before becoming a full-time artist, he was active as a ballet dancer in the United States, Asia and Europe, and won many awards for artistic achievements. During this period, Zdenek was also commissioned to design the stage of ballet works, such as "Impermanence" in Florence, Italy in 2010, "Drop" at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2017, etc.
In ART TAIPEI 2023, he will present his latest abstract paintings, which are influenced by the artist’s past experiences as a dancer. Movement, be it Physical, Mental or Metaphorical plays an important role in making and thinking about these paintings. The process focusses on probing the dynamics of contrasting qualities [materially and metaphorically]: blurred and defined, distant and immediate, moving and still, exploration of dynamics between variety of tools and individually a pursuit of realization of a subconscious notion, thought, form or shape, memory, reminder or a future note. And along side using various tools [spray paint, airbrush, brushes, oil sticks etc.] it allow for producing an ever changing collection of marks, subsequently letting its’ own language to emerge and build its own vocabulary. In the end, each painting strives to tell its own story, be it a statement or just realization of certain chain of thoughts.
