Made between the 1950s and 1960s, this work depicts a flourishing scene of verdant leaves, blooming flowers, and luscious fruit, accompanied by chirping birds and dancing butterflies. A sense of vitality imbues the distinguishing its tone from Sanyu's clean and minimal compositions of the 30s and 40s. The table that cradles the vase, though portrayed in oils, is inscribed with ancient Chinese symbols, attesting to Sanyu's affection for the culture that has nurtured him.
