Love Letters to Tainan: 400 Mail Art.- An Artistic Postal Exhibition

In 2024, Fort Zeelandia, built by the Dutch East India Company in Tainan, Taiwan, will celebrate its 400th anniversary. The cultural landscapes of each era have been continuously layered, intertwined, and renewed in this city, shaping today's "Tainan" into a cultural ancient capital like a museum. The "Love Letters to Tainan" postal art exhibition, organized by the Egret Cultural and Educational Foundation and the Taiwan Art and Fashion Association, is co-curated by honorary chairman Yu-Chiou Tchen and Professor Pan-Song Lin . They  invited 600 artists, musicians, cultural and fashion important figures from Taiwan and globally to create their ingenuity. The participating masters include important figures such as A-Sun Wu, Ho-Kan, Patrick Blanc, Fumio Nanjo, Kurt Perschke, and Dominick Forte. These works of art will undoubtedly become precious gems of future generations!

The "Blessings to Taiwan - Love Letters to Tainan" postal art exhibition is a carefully planned invitation exhibition. We invited artists, writers, poets, designers, architects, and cultural workers from all over the world and Taiwan to "create their work of art" on standardized postcards and send them by mail to the National Taiwan Literature Museum to participate in the special exhibition from May 18 to August 31, 2024. This curation has four special meanings: it is a cultural event, inviting cultural and artistic people from all over the world to convey blessings through writing, painting, photography, collage, sculpture and other methods; it is a cultural imprint, creating the interest of postal art through the actual mailing of postcards. The postmarks on the stamps of each postcard are stamped with the postmarks of the artist's residence, recording the marks of time, space and historical witness; it demonstrates cultural integration, and it is a display of the integration and brilliance of cross-regional, cross-disciplinary, and cross-cultural exchanges; it is even more a valuable cultural asset. These postcard works of art are precious cultural assets that will be a part of Taiwan's future through this exhibition.

How did the cultural landscapes of each era continue to occur, layer, intertwine, and renew in this city, shaping today's "Tainan" into a cultural ancient capital like a museum? The exhibitors come from different countries and different fields, but they all have the same love for Taiwan and Tainan.  This intention, through ingenuity and artistic creation, will send full blessings to Tainan! What a wonderful spiritual gift this is! It is undeniable that when we are waiting for the mailed works, we feel both anticipation and anxiety, but the surprise we feel when we receive the works is really an enjoyment and a "beautiful experience!" The brilliance of each work and the full "love" expressed for the city of Tainan and Taiwan are truly touching!

Finally, blessings to Tainan, God bless Taiwan!
