    廖烜榛和黃奕捷將在本次個展中展出《無題(太陽雨)》和《紙建築》兩組作品。
    《無題(太陽雨)》,緣自一組在三一八運動期間,由抗爭者共同創作出來的紙模型。這組模型以回收物重製了佔領運動的空間範圍,如同是現場的微縮。廖烜榛及黃奕捷在運動結束之後持續保存紙模型,2019年,他們將毀損大半的模型帶回青島東路原地重組、展示,並在隨後將其丟棄。這段過程則在藝術家李旭彬的協助下,拍攝成為一組影像作品。
    《紙建築》則是以紙模型為基礎的延伸計畫。這項計畫參考了建築領域的設計方法,將紙模型轉化一系列的另類空間構想。本次以紙上建築的形式展出的〈紙建築 no.40〉,則是他們和建築設計師李佳樺合作的成果。
    〈紙建築 no.40〉,原型是一座由靜坐民眾所製作的「民主聖殿」,這座聖殿借用了帕德嫩神殿的造型,由環繞的圓柱和雙坡屋頂所構成。然而,聖殿的屋頂已在多年後遺失,柱體也歪斜扭曲。〈紙建築 no.40〉的設計,便是對於聖殿損毀姿態的重新詮釋。

    關於藝術家:
    廖烜榛和黃奕捷的創作包含了電影、行為藝術、空間裝置等形式,作品曾入選台灣雙年展、台灣國際紀錄片影展、法國馬賽影展、捷克伊赫拉瓦影展,也曾在韓國現代美術館高陽工作室、東京台灣文化中心、立方計畫空間、台北當代藝術中心、海馬迴光畫館、絕對空間、國立臺灣美術館、關渡美術館等地發表作品。曾獲2017年《第十五屆台新藝術獎》年度入圍、2016年《桃源創作獎》首獎。

    Liao Xuan-Zhen and Huang I-Chieh will exhibit Untitled(sunshower) and Paper Architecture in their solo exhibition.
    The idea of Untitled(sunshower) comes from a set of paper models made by the protesters of March 18 movement. The models replicate the space which the movement occupied with recyclables, as a miniature of the event. Liao and Huang has preserved the models after the movement; and in 2019, they brought the models, which has been mostly damaged, back to Qingdao East Road, reconstructing, exhibiting, and then disposing of them at the original place. The shooting of the whole process is completed with the support of artist Lee Hsu-Pin.
    Paper Architecture is an extended project developed from the paper models. The project draws on the design approach in architecture field, transforming the models into a series of alternative perception of space. The work Paper Architecture no.40, which is exhibited this time, is the result of their collaboration with architecture designer Lee Chia-Hua.
    The original model of Paper Architecture no.40 is “the temple of democracy,” made by tprotesters. “The temple” mimics the structure of Parthenon, built by columns and double pitched roof. However, the roof of “the temple” are lost for years, and the columns are damaged and tilting. To re-interpret the damaged state of “the temple,” therefore, is the spirit of Paper Architecture no.40’s design.

    ABOUT THE ARTISTS
    The work of Liao Xuan-Zhen and Huang I-Chieh includes film, performance, and installation. Their works has been selected into Taiwan Biennial, Taiwan International Documentary Festival, Marseille’s International Film Festival, Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, Chiayi International Art Doc Film Festival; they also exhibited their works at National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Korea, Taiwan Cultural Center in Tokyo, The Cube Project Space, Taipei Contemporary Art Center, Fotoaura Institue of Photography, Absolute Space for the Arts, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, etc. They have been selected to the final list of the 15th Taishin Arts Award in 2017, and have won the first prize of Taoyuan Contemporary Arts Award.
