「我在尋找我不知道的，我正要去探索的。新冠肺炎封城期間，我試著了解我自己，試著以一種無法用言語解釋的方式實現那些我看見的能量與運動，將它轉化到畫中，每個上色的部分、每個單一線條、每個單一的點，都必須有一個存在的理由，它以爆發的方式互動、平靜、消失，整合成為一條線，一幅畫。」

“I’m looking for what I don’t know, what I’m exploring. During Covid-19, we had a shutdown, and I pushed myself to really interrogate and understand what I was, I did something here that [visually manifested and described] what I was doing, translating it to the canvas in a different way with a different energy. Within the painting, every single mark, every single line, every single point has to have a reason. It interacts in such a way that it bursts, calms down, disappears. All of that comes together, to be one line, one painting.”

1966年出生於南非的以色列藝術家貝弗莉•巴爾卡特（Beverly Barkat），作品曾在以色列、日本、義大利、美國等地展出，2019年曾受邀於ART TAIPEI 台北國際藝術博覽會公共藝術展區，展出創作靈感來自探討以色列12支派與聖經申命記的裝置藝術作品「After the Tribes」(此作品亦曾於羅馬邦康帕尼Boncompagni 博物館展出)，以金屬雕塑來探索美學與政治之間的關係，源於這個展出經驗，開啟了藝術家與台灣的連結。

《空中之有Mass Movement Energy》以色列藝術家：貝弗利•巴爾卡特（Beverly Barkat）亞洲首檔個展，藝術家以平面創作探討物與物之間和諧共存以及自我心理與社會狀態的期許，2022年5月7日至6月19日，大象藝術空間館將為您呈現藝術家探索、詮釋宇宙中，個體遵循某種律動與運行的大型油畫系列作品與部分水墨作品，背後複雜而微妙的繪畫姿態變化。

個展中的每件作品，皆傳達了解構與重組狀態之間的界限，從而塑造了當下空間內各種力量：內部和外部，有形甚或無形，所有這些元素都悄悄地進行了微妙的轉變，在藝術家的繪畫中，每一個短暫的瞬間將成就永恆。在Beverly Barkat的創作過程和繪畫手法中，自然的節奏似乎對過去的生活體驗做出了回應。每一次筆觸線條的停留、轉折或堆疊，都帶出不可抹滅的時間與痕跡，躍動、速度而產生的律動感，顏料堆疊滲透出透明柔和的光線，如迷人詩句的溫和平靜而緩慢地展開。

透過Beverly Barkat的微觀，詮釋了一種未完成且持續進行的狀態，透過內在自省來感受每個生活當下，從而體現了創造力，2022年5月14日 下午3-5點 開幕茶會，邀請您的蒞臨!

Mass Movement Energy - Beverly Barkat's (b. 1966 in Johannesburg, South Africa; lives and works in Jerusalem, Israel) first solo exhibition in Asia, will be featured at Da Xiang Art Space (a well-known academic art gallery in Taichung, central Taiwan). It presents Barkat’s exploration of matter in the universe, specific motions, unveiling complex yet subtle dynamics behind her painterly gesture. Mass Movement Energy comprises oil paintings and ink drawings.

Each individual work in Barkat's Mass Movement Energy communicates the threshold between deconstruction and reconstruction, shaping forces within immediate space: internal and external, being and non-being. All of these elements quietly undergo subtle transformation where each fleeting moment in Barkat’s paintings and drawings becomes an eternity in the landscapes of stillness within motion, and motion within stillness. In the artist's creative process and painterly gesture, nature’s rhythms seem to respond to past life experiences. Each lingering, turning, or accumulating line and brushstroke evokes indelible time and a sense of movement that is conjured by traces, pulses, and speed. A soft light permeates the accumulation of pigments, unfurling slowly with the gentle calmness of a mesmerizing poem.

In Mass Movement Energy, Beverly Barkat masterfully interprets an incomplete and ongoing condition in the microcosmos, where creativity is epitomized by locating the inner self as a key to perceiving the present moment.
