王子欣 T. C. WANG (B.1967)

創作自述Artist Statement：

因成長環境或遺傳自母親壓抑、憂鬱的基因，喜好風格強烈、深沉的黑白攝影，並深受日本攝影家「森山大道」先生的影響，效仿他日復一日的街拍動作，著迷於高對比、高反差、粗顆粒近乎超現實黑白光影的表現。曾於2011年擔任「條條大道通森山-黑白攝影展」的策展及參展人。

Whether by nature or nurture, I seem to have inherited by mother＆#039;s depression. Perhaps that＆#039;s why, late in life, I was drawn to black and white photography, with all its profound intensity. I wished to imitate Mr. Moriyama Daido, one of the most famous B/W Japanese photographers, and to do so I practiced street shots on a daily basis. His rough textured, high-contrast, surrealistic style became my goal. In 2011, I was the curator and exhibitor of the “A Tribute to Moriyama Daido B/W Photo Exhibition" in Taipei. The exhibit, in a way, culminated this phase of my life, which served as my introduction to the creative act.

2014年開始嘗試用色彩作畫。與一般科班出身的畫家不同，少了學、經歷、似懂非懂的藝術理論束縛，反而不妨礙我追求更自由、大膽的嘗試。以拼貼、油畫、壓克力顏料、畫布、木板及數種建築材料（批土、底漆等）作為媒材。創作期間並無設定完成目標，讓線條與顏色堆疊、自由發揮，期待每一張畫都是全新的視覺感受。

In 2014, I began working with color. I had no professional training, no formal art education and zero painting experience. With no theory to draw from, I created freely, attempting bold experiments in all sorts of art forms. I made collages, oil paintings, and mixed media pieces utilizing canvas, wood and all kinds of other construction materials. My photographic aims had been specific, but I brought no stylistic focus to these new works. I thought simply of combining colors and lines, in the hope of creating a brand new visual experience with each and every work I completed.

沒有人文關懷、環境保護等遠大目標，只希望喜愛藝術（創作或欣賞）之於人類，應該如食物、空氣、水是人類的基本需求一樣，不是少數人的權利，畫作最終的目的還是美化及裝飾環境，愉悅及感動觀賞者的心情，真誠的表達創作時的感受。觀賞者能被我的畫作吸引，駐足停留數秒鐘，與我產生某種程度的、厭惡或喜好的共鳴，是我比較希望的結果。

I do not have any grandiose goals for my art; it is not born from a desire to change the world. I make art for the love of art itself— for both the creation and the appreciation of it. I believe art to be a basic human need, like food, air, and water. It is not the domain of a select few, but rather something everyone has a right to. Art can beautify; it can delight; it can move people deeply. And at its best it can connect the viewer with the creative urge itself. Ultimately, I hope my works can express my true feelings, and that viewers will apprehend something of them, whether pleasant or unpleasant. If people are attracted by my work and stop for a few seconds to take it in and create some kind of connection with me, then I will have fully achieved my aim.
