The snake (tsuá) represents both temptation and rebirth; it is simultaneously beautiful and dangerous.
The snake, raising its head high above the earth, twists and coils, and is reborn through shedding its skin. It is inherently imbued with wisdom and mystery, yet it is also feared for its danger and destructive power. Revered and feared in equal measure, it has long been regarded as a deity, protector, and messenger. The snake can be seen as a multifaceted figure—both divine and demonic, spiritual and monstrous, it embodies both good and evil—giving rise to many myths and creativity.
From its symbolic representation and behavior to the legendary stories and religious metaphors surrounding it, the snake has inspired countless creators across Eastern and Western cultures, sparking boundless imagination and creativity.
The exhibition "CONTEMPORARY CAVE OF CURIOSITY: SNAKE" at the Pier-2 Art Center uses the snake as a symbolic motif and the concept of "holes" to engage in a dialogue with the curatorial theme. Ten creators from diverse artistic and design backgrounds participate, weaving the snake’s ecological, social, cultural, and psychological layers -
