古代東亞島國之間，利用季風與海流擁有活躍的海上貿易，濟州島與台北，無論在普遍的情感、精神文化或符號學上的意義，作為同樣島嶼的地理學特徵上，都生成與擁有相似的共同體文化。在此基礎上，濟州的藝術倉庫與台北新創空間水谷藝術間，共同進行了首次的國際交流展，透過本次交流展，建構起空間之間特殊持續的交流互動的同時，亦藉此重新詮釋古代海上網路。

新海洋網絡
在1700年以前，濟州島上有一個稱為「塔瑪(Tamra)」的海洋王國，它是韓國與東南亞間在印度洋上的國際貿易樞紐。在印度，玄武岩之地稱為「甘榜(Kampung)」，同時也會發展出「橫木文化(Jeongnang culture)」，這是濟州島上非常獨特的文化，但在印度也非常容易看到。

不只在印度，你可以在台灣、寮國、泰國、柬埔寨、斯底蘭卡、緬甸看到玄武岩與橫木文化，他們擁有相同的符號意義。這亦是古代國際貿易的另一證明。如古代中國與日本的史書上你可以看到濟州島上關於塔瑪的故事，它是非常容易找到的關聯性。在海洋貿易中，風與海流是必要的。

如果船的航行依靠著赤道上的黑潮移動，那麼船可以非常簡單地就到達菲律賓、台灣、日本與韓國。在另一方面，如果船的移動靠著西伯利亞的東北季風航行，那麼船隻很簡單在赤道上航行。在這次於水谷藝術和藝術倉庫的展出中，你可以看見這些雕塑與裝置作品重新詮釋關於「風」與「洋流」。

發現濟州島與台灣島上的風與岩石
這個作品描述了岩石被風拖行的景象，我重新詮釋了自然的材質，像是我們可以感受到卻無法看見的「風」/我將它製成人們可見/有時不可見的狀態。

此外，關於玄武岩，這個常見於塔瑪與台灣這兩個海洋王國的天然材質，被用來案是兩國之間的海洋貿易關係，這也意味者兩個地區間的文化藝術交流關係。我從這兩個國家的地理自然環境中獲得靈感，並將起展是在這個展覽中，我希望未來可以持續建立與發展兩個空間的關係。

The new marine network

1700 years ago, there was the marine kingdom called ‘Tamra’ in Jeju Island. It was an international trade hub between India sea, southeast Asia and Korea.In India, there is basalt stone wall called Kampung. And Jeongnang culture, which is very unique feature of Jeju, is also easily found in india.

Not just in india, you can find basalt stone walls and jeongnang in Taiwan, laos, Thailand, Cambodia, sri lanka, Myanmar, and all of them has same semiotic meaning. This is also another proof of ancient international trade.It is easy to find stories about Tamra, or Jeju in old Chinese and Japanese history books. In sea trade, the wind and current is necessary.

If the ship moves along with the Kuroshio Current from the equator, the ship can easily reach to Philippines, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. On the other hand, if the ship rides on the northeast seasonal wind from Siberia, the ship can easily get to equator.
Regarding all of these, the sculpture and installment artworks in the ‘Art Barn’ and ‘Waley Art’ are the artist’s reinterpretation of Wind and Current.

Wind and stone are found in Jeju and Taiwan

This artwork describes the scene of the stone dragged by wind. I re-interpret the natural material, the wind / which is something we can feel but we can’t see, / and set it in formative way to make people to see / “something we can’t see”

Also, the basalt stone, the natural material commonly found in both marine kingdoms of Tamra and Taiwan, was used to imply the marine trade relationship between both countries. Also this means cultural art exchange between both regions.

The inspiration that I got from the nature environments of both countries, are expressed in this work. This is my hope for the future of two spaces to build sustainable network.
