王克平的藝術生涯由始至今,一直不離木雕創作,創作環境的轉變,在他的作品中充分流露,1979年作為北京星星畫會的藝術家之一,星星美展觸及到了人們的心靈,把多年來壓抑在心中的不滿苦悶怨恨經荒謬怪誕的方式宣發出來,引起很大的震撼,這是自1949年以後大陸藝壇出現的反官式寫實主義的現代造型,是藝術現代化的重要起步。
王克平的創作語言是簡單自然,以木頭為材料,以其自然形式表現人的自然形態,既是用自然又要打破自然,把自己的表達加進去,最後作品處理又迴然天成,讓作品解釋作品。
他的作品偏向東方寫意,齊白石曾說妙在似與不似之間,太似則俗媚,不似則欺世,因此受中國的哲學美學影響很多,不注重形和對象的精確表達,最重要的是寫意。
1984年,王克平定居法國,沒有了干涉,沒有了反抗的目標,對於自己的創作,不知從何下手,但王克平企圖樹立個人風格,巴黎市政府、首爾奧林匹克公園、台灣省立美術館、波士頓Aidekman藝術中心,都有收藏他的作品,前後於紐約、巴黎、倫敦等各地畫廊的個展,更反映出移居法國讓王克平以一種更嚴謹和內斂的態度,繼續與源自他方的藝術傳統對話,充滿著自信和力量。
Wang Ke-Ping was born in Beijing in 1949. He participated in “Stars Group” from 1979, and then became a live member. He has moved to France since 1984 till now.
Wang’s art career has kept close to wooden sculpture. In his early creation, he made those feelings of depression and resentment be shown in eccentric ways, resulting in great shock. Moreover, it is also a kind of modern design of anti-bureaucratic realism that initiates art’s modernization.
In 1984, Wang settled in France and then suddenly went without intervention and goals to oppose. Wang did not know where to restart create; nonetheless, he tried to build up his personal style. Afterwards, institutes including Government of Paris, Olympic Park in Seoul, and National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts all have Wang’s collections. He later on hold several solo exhibitions in New York, Paris, London, and alike. This reflects that moving to France enables Wang Ke-Ping to face his works with a stricter and more inward attitude. Wang has been influenced a lot by Chinese philosophical aesthetics, so his creation in general tends to be more Eastern style. He chooses wood as material to present simplicity and nature of human.
