Glazed Red flower cup: Ming Dynasty HongWu
Different from blue and white porcelain, glazes red porcelain uses cobalt earth mineral as the color material, and copper oxide as the color agent. The production method is similar to blue and white porcelain, except that the temperature required to present the color is different from blue and white porcelain.
Red, as the color advocated by the Han people, was promoted consciously by Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty. In the early Hongwu Dynasty, most of the products were black red, gris rouge, not bright enough, and even many of them were carbon black, but they were not broken or buried. Through unremitting efforts, the pure red color can be produced in the middle and late Hongwu Dynasty.
