新作可看見達米安・赫斯特2001年以活體蝴蝶貼在玻璃上完成的萬花筒系列作品,對照著梵谷的作品《含著香煙的骸骨》象徵它物之死而被藝術所消費的蝴蝶,以及代表梵谷思考死亡真實經驗的「人的感受」它們產生一系列關於符號辯證烘託的精神意涵。繪畫轉寫代表著圖像化與表層化現象、金質材料的鑲框形制象徵著高雅文化憧憬的永恆性,以及表現為消耗性、消費性的鋼彈碎料,三者之間的慾望形上學列式是:向死而生的超越性樂觀遐想,意志的湧動封存於符號中,象徵性地規避自我覺察而達致永恆的觀想。
In his new work, viewers will see Damien Hirst’s 2001 works of butterflies on glass from the Kaleidoscope series, which is echoed by Vincent Van Gogh’s “Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette”, conveying the metaphor of the death of butterflies being consumed by art, as well as the “human feeling” of Van Gogh’s contemplation of the death experience and the spiritual connotations accentuated by a series of symbolic dialectics. This interpretation through painting represents the phenomenon of picturalization and surfacelization, the metal frames represent the sublime and elegant artworks’ yearning for eternity, and the Gundam materials represent depletion and consumerism. The desire between the three presents a metaphysical formula: the transcendental, optimistic reverie from death to life, the wave of the will contained within the symbols, and symbolic avoidance of self-awareness, which ultimately results in the failure to reach eternity.
