The blue in this painting is used to represent the Medicine Buddha, Sangay Menlha. In Buddhism, medical science is divided into the physical and spiritual. Nature has endowed plants, herbs, and even the elements with healing power for our physical illnesses. The figure in the meditative pose is filled with these medicines of nature, here representing inner healing, which is attained through introspection and understanding the truth, awakening the Buddha that resides within us all.
