This is a depiction of death, although in Buddhism death is not a horrible thing to be feared. It is merely part of the reality of existence. The skeleton at the centre represents this reality- a reminder of death but also what we all have inside of us. A recognition that death is inevitable allows us to recognize the impermanence of existence, and direct our efforts towards the truth.
