This time, the classic American diner on the iconic Route 66 becomes the canvas for the artist, to explore the history of the rise of fast-food culture and showcase the transformation of art into symbols, as a response to the market’s heavy demand. The painting features the rat chef Remy from the movie Ratatouille, and ingeniously transforms symbols such as ukiyo-e and zebras into unique dishes to stimulate business, sparking a bidding war among customers.
This gourmet auction imitates the current state of the contemporary art market, featuring a blend of diverse, variable, unique, experimental, and revolutionary elements. The artwork challenges the viewers to consider whether professional knowledge and research are necessary to differentiate authenticity or if art is merely a fleeting sensation—bold in its initial impact but quick to fade. Or perhaps a bitter taste that turns into sweetness over time? Depicted within the artwork, “Remy’s Contemporary Molecular Gastronom” served as a mirror, reflecting the dynamic relationship between art, culture, and commerce, as well as the importance of the essence of art.
