草稿匣：邵慈陶偶創作個展
草稿，可能是一句話、一個想法，或一絲充滿不確定的動機。
藝術家邵慈擅長創作詼諧可愛陶偶，並透過略帶黑色幽默與強烈對比的敘事，揭開年輕世代面對生存的惆悵與無力感。本次個展，她放大生活中的枝微末節，以工作 Email 的「草稿匣」為題，將其視為存放自身創作靈感，以及人們紀錄生活片段的中繼站，在腦海中暫存不同片刻的情緒與意識流動，並任其緩緩發酵，醞釀成作品。
邵慈認為，人們心中皆有草稿匣，且大多數「無主旨」，僅暫時儲存當下的狀態。因此她在看似單純童趣的人物中，捏塑許多或細微或沉重的神情與細節，保存貼合現實生活的發現，例如：同事私下的反差、自身對逃離壓力的渴望、人們對社會認同的不斷追尋，並期待藉由作品，引導觀者在逐一閱讀身旁事物的同時，持續找尋自我價值。
邵慈
畢業於英國皇家藝術學院，先後於台灣、日本、英國攻讀工藝與陶瓷創作，擁有豐富參展及駐村經歷，與人相處、與自我對話的過程，確立其以陶偶為主的敘事風格，於異國的生活與求學歷程，更令其作品具有跳脫框架的趣味與創意。
邵慈愛好紀錄與寫作，關注社會議題，擅長將觀察與感觸寄情於陶偶創作，並思忖自身的陶藝家身份與價值，將對於「人」與「物」的想像投射於作品，透過不同故事與切角，建立與人、與社會之緊密連結。
The Draft：Shau Tzu Solo Exhibition
A draft can be a sentence, an idea, or an uncertain motivation.
Artist Shau Tzu excels at creating humorous and adorable figurines and, through a narrative style tinged with dark humor and strong contrasts, reveals the melancholy and sense of powerlessness that the younger generation faces in their struggle for survival. In the exhibition, she magnifies the minutiae of life, using the theme of the "Draft" in work emails as a metaphor. She sees it as a place to save her own creative inspirations and as an intermediary station for people to record life moments. It＆#039;s a place to temporarily store the emotions and the flow of consciousness from different moments in their minds, allowing them to slowly ferment and evolve into works of art.
Shau Tzu believes that everyone has a Draft Box in their hearts, and most of the time, it lacks a specific purpose, merely serving to temporarily preserve the current state of being. Therefore, in seemingly simple and childlike characters, she sculpts numerous subtle or profound expressions and details, preserving discoveries that align with real-life experiences, such as the contrasting interests of colleagues that are unknown to others, her own desire to escape from stress, and people＆#039;s continuous pursuit of social identity. She hopes that through her artwork, viewers can be guided to continue searching for their self-worth while carefully observing the things around them.
Shau Tzu
Shau Tzu, who graduated from the Royal College of Art in the United Kingdom, has studied craft and ceramic creation in Taiwan, Japan and the United Kingdom, and has a lot of exhibition and AIR experience. The process of getting along with people and introspection established her style of ceramic portrait creation. And her years of living and studying in different countries have made her works more interesting and creative.
Shau Tzu likes to record and write, and focuses on social issues. She’s good at integrating observation and feeling into her works, thinking about her identity and value as a potter, projecting her imagination of people and objects into her works, and establishing a close connection with people and society through different stories and perspectives. -
