Throughout history, the belief in animism, the spirit of natural reverence in Shinto, Heidegger's critique of technology, and the critique of the contemporary landscape weave a narrative of profound connection and concern for the essence of the world and existence.Animism posits that life and soul reside in every corner of nature, while Shinto, as an indigenous faith, emphasizes a way of life in harmony with nature, venerating it through festivals and rituals.
Heidegger critically explores how modern technology reduces the world to a resource. Advocating for a return to a more authentic mode of existence, he proposes a way of life that can rediscover the connection between people and the world, thereby combating the alienation brought about by modern technology. Meanwhile, critiques of the societal spectacle reveal how modern consumerism and media replace direct experiences with representations, fragmenting our perception of reality.
This challenge demands a revaluation of our relationship with nature, seeking paths toward harmonious coexistence in an increasingly globalized and technologically advanced society. It encourages us to pause before profound works to momentarily set aside the inertia of rendering the world into representations and resources, inviting a deeper engagement with our surroundings.
