光是人類崇拜的對象，也是數世紀以來藝術家所追尋的想像。數位科技以「光」為介面，進行訊息的傳遞，透過編碼、傳遞、接收與解譯，更超越電子時代的類比「光」。真假虛實影像的訊號與符號，成為人們認知世界的真實；虛擬世界的物件進入真實世界之中，而這些想像的真實，成為人類的集體記憶，成為神話、信仰與信念。

然而何為真實、何為想像，都是在開啟與關閉的感知經驗中存在，並非僅存於數位空間當中。大觀藝術空間此次以「光滅光啟的昏眩狀態」為主題，討論從類比號到數位訊號，訊號在開關之間的記憶、啟動與策略，以及在此開關之間，所建構的符號與象徵之虛構與真實。

Humans worship light, which is the source of life and soul in this world as well as the sustaining force in nature. “Light” plays a significant part in digital art, through coding, delivery and receiving information as well as interpretations, artists are able to deliver their messages in various forms. The signals and symbols of the virtual world have gradually become the reality for the contemporary society, the imagined reality, along with the memories of men, have become the modern mythology, religion and faith.

But what are real and what come from our imaginations? They co-exist within the action of turning on and off the light, not confined within the digital world. With the theme “Vertigo from On and Off Light”, the exhibits in Daguan Gallery aims to explore the memories and strategies ranging from analogue to digital signals, and the relationship between the virtual world and the reality.
