  • 「SKINWALKER」為Johannes最新系列作品,是其雕塑品和繪畫的原始草圖,現在透過超智能機器的協助下得以呈現及繼續。Johannes汲取古代神話中生物作為靈感。這些神奇魔幻的生物會呈現不同形態,偽裝或隱匿自身。在電影中也是常見的主題,它們可以寄宿在人類身上,透過細菌或病毒感染將其轉變成非人類物種。

    在研究人工智能的過程Johannes意識到「SKINWALKER」並不是指人類,實際上是I/O(計算機輸入)所偽裝而成。「I/O」指數據或信息在計算機內進出的技術術語,在每次輸入來擴展對人類的知識並了解。Johannes因此創作出「SKINWALKER系列」,探討人類很大程度上依賴人工智慧及新技術的現況。這是先進技術在瓦解現有權力體系,卻同時推動人類創造意識的新時期。他在此系列中反問大眾社會是否受益。他敦促人們研究人工智慧,權衡其利弊,因為它正在穩健而確實地進入我們的集體意識。最後請大家捫心自問,如果未來僅僅依賴新技術,是否有意義;也可被解讀為一種警告、預兆以及提醒,預示未來人與機器之間將慢慢演變成不平衡且疏離的互動關係。作品所呈現反烏托邦表面下隱藏著一場嚮往烏托邦世界的夢想。

    SKINWALKER, Johannes Holt Iversen's latest series, draws inspiration from mythical creatures from antiquity. They might assume many forms, disguise or conceal themselves. Magical creatures are a common subject in the film business. They could transform the host into a non-human species by bacterial or virus infections.

    The SKINWALKER IO study-series, which was prepared by Johannes in collaboration with artificially intelligent machines, is therefore sketches and process work and further development of Johannes Holt Iversen's art practice to continue physically develop, both sculptural objects and paintings, now in the assistance of hyper-intelligent machines.

    During his studies with the artificial intelligences, it struck him that the SKINWALKER was not the human being necessarily, rather the alien lifeform expanding its knowledge about human from each typing into the prompt. I/O is the technical term for the data or information that is passed into or out of a computer; as he was becoming aware that the real SKINWALKER possessing and disguising itself was the I/O (computer input).

    Johannes found resonance in this idea; as a result, he discusses artificial intelligence and the new technologies that humans now largely rely on through SKINWALKER series. This is a new period where advanced technologies are both undermining the established power system and advancing human creative consciousness. Johannes brought up the subject of whether it is beneficial for society throughout the series. He urges people to consider AI carefully and weigh its benefits and drawbacks because it is steadily but surely making its way into our collective awareness, also self-question that if it makes sense to depend solely on new technology going forward. Finally, but just as importantly, it might be interpreted as a warning, a foreshadowing, and a reminder of a day when there will be an imbalanced and estranged interaction between humans and machines. The gloomy dystopian surfaces conceal a utopian dream beneath the artworks.
