張小黎——原籍中國貴州，獲獎學金赴香港中文大學並取得藝術及生物學位一等榮譽後，現為中央美術學院碩士生。作品曾參展於台、港、中、美、比利時等地，並於今年六月唯一代表中央美院參展「學院光譜——中國美術院校師生聯展」。

張小黎以「積木山水」為圖像標誌，作品風格轉化自不同視覺藝術的變體特色，其「以屋喻盒」是最引人注目的轉變形式；不但轉承傳統山水繪畫，亦直接上溯如「壺中天」的雋永神話。作品巧妙融鑄生活經驗於圖像元素中，同時吸收自超現實主義大師馬格利特的空間佈局，在風格來源上，宗承青綠山水而有畫意上的創新。

其以當代語言對話傳統，將非真實的山水造境置於日常物件之中，描繪片段化的記憶與經驗，不僅反映生活的軌跡，也成為藝術家獨特的視覺語彙。

Zhang Xiaoli was born in Guizhou, China, and received a scholarship to study Fine Arts and Biology in the Hong Kong Chinese University where she graduated with first honours. Zhang is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Central Academy of Fine Arts and has exhibited in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, US and Belgium, and was selected to represent Central Academy of Fine Arts to exhibit in “College Spectrum – Exhibition of Chinese Art College Teachers and Students”.

Zhang’s trademark “Lego landscapes” transform traditional visual art into a new from, with the distinguishable “Houses as Boxes” style. Her paintings take inspirations from conventional landscapes as well as the ancient legend of “the world within a gourd”. The artist has also transferred her life experiences onto the images, taking the spacial composition from Surrealist master René Magritte, and continues with the tradition of blue and green landscapes with a contemporary twist.

Conversing with the traditional style with a modern language and taking the surreal landscapes into ordinary everyday objects whilst capturing one’s memories and experiences, Zhang’s paintings reflect the traces of life and present the artist’s unique understanding of visual languages.
