這是一次全新的觀看體驗，沒有先前的包袱，卻開啟了對於西方當代攝影的另一個觀點。這就是此次亦安畫廊台北《羅傑・拜倫－靈魂劇場》給我最深的印象。

“This is a journey deep into the psyche, not to find dreams themselves, but the origin of dreams instead.”(這是一個靈魂深處的旅程，不在於發掘夢境本身，更是要發掘夢境的本源。)
羅傑拜倫的這段話，著實呼應了本次新展覽作品的形式上變化與本次展覽作品的內容表現。
身為最重要西方當代攝影藝術家之一的羅傑拜倫，認為自己是黑白攝影世代的末代奉行者。他的作品一直偏好以黑白圖像呈現，但所關注與創作的主題從早期殘酷政治與社會現狀的紀實、超現實、劇場式驚悚拼貼、人生殘酷與荒誕的內容，轉變到近作─他所說的「夢境本源」，作為自2004到2016年的創作主軸。

相較於近年來為國內攝影愛好者熟悉的日本風格，中年耍酷街拍（森山大道）、高對比色感廣告最愛（蜷川實花）、情慾自瀆派（荒木經惟）、小清新文青照（川內倫子）、時代悲情記憶流（石內都）、冷眼觀世間（細江英公）等族繁不及備載的這些名家，以及其他西方頂尖當代攝影而言，羅傑拜倫在創作上的獨特性以及孜孜不倦地與時俱進，相對於其他那些長期關注光影、構圖、文化特色、社會現實、女體、時尚、非主流族群、景物、瑣碎細節、都市景觀、新媒材、觀念轉換等作品，顯得頗為不凡。 
據展方表示，此次展出的近期作品，比較類似於攝影沖洗前的拼貼與繪畫，創作形式已經從前期的小劇場式紀實進入到心理層面的自動創作。

此次新作沒有過去那種不忍卒睹感，或過於非現實狀態的鋪陳，也沒有故意要給人一種強大的視覺衝擊，羅傑拜倫以其對於攝影作品的熟練處理技巧，在沒有事先構圖的情況下，於相紙媒材上以類繪畫及拼貼的方式，構成一幅幅弗洛伊德式的圖像，並事後以翻拍或其他方式處理後加以沖洗出來。去除了上一檔詭異與過激的操作痕跡，本系列作品試圖挑起觀者的內心世界，並引發觀者認真去思考圖像的隱喻以及超出畫面外那未知的感官延續，部分作品甚至應該能夠引起回憶、悲傷或失落等情緒。觀賞完本次展覽之後，應該會有餘韻猶存之感，特別是多數作品在形式上頗有異人風格，但畫面本身在潛意識層面卻給人非常強烈的「既視感」（Déjà vu/paramnésie）。『不可說』三字恰好可以用來精確形容羅傑拜倫本次的作品的主要特色。

到底這些作品的內容代表著什麼？羅傑做了如此表示 “My best photographs are the ones I do not understand”（我最好的照片是那些連我也不了解的）。
