2021年高雄市立美術館（下簡稱高美館）所舉辦的《泛‧南‧島藝術祭》立基於高美館長期對南島當代藝術的研究與關注，以島嶼為策展的基準點，擁抱海洋流動、去疆界的文化特質，展現國內外眾多藝術家精彩作品。今年（2022）為進一步推動臺美文化交流，駐美代表處臺灣書院特邀本展於華府擴延展出，於5月7日至6月26日在美國華盛頓特區「國際藝術與藝術家希利爾藝廊」（IA&A at Hillyer，簡稱希利爾藝廊）正式亮相，展覽並於華府時間5月6日晚間開幕，並將搭配推出多場現場導覽與講座。

本次海外展覽以「流動的邊界」（Fluid Boundaries）為主題，精選四組《泛‧南‧島藝術祭》參展臺灣藝術家，呈現以當代手法演繹原住民傳統文化元素的精彩創作。其中，展出作品包含多件2021年甫委託創作完成之新作，且多數為高雄市立美術館典藏。
參展作品包含：林介文(Labay Eyong)〈我的身體半座山〉、《我的傳統服飾不傳統》系列，呈現藝術家兩個不同時期的作品，作品以太魯閣族傳統織布為基礎，闡述藝術家對於礦業開發後山林傷痕的關懷，也以母親般的形象呈現哺育了世代族人的山，更藉著織布延續文化傳承，重新爬梳自我認同；宜德思‧盧信(Idas Losin)展出「跳島創作計畫」系列〈封島〉、〈Tatara〉及〈黑月系列：島〉，以獨特而細膩的筆觸與色彩，擷取在太平洋諸島所見所聞，也凝聚了藝術家對族群、對故鄉海島的情感。張恩滿(Chang En-Man)〈蝸牛樂園三部曲:啟航或終章〉，追溯非洲大蝸牛隨著殖民主義分布全球的路徑，透過十字繡和創作歌謠吟唱，探討文化的傳播和轉化；蒂摩爾古薪舞集（Tjimur Dance Theatre），藉由歌聲、呼吸的交錯，呈現排灣族文化的傳承呈現出〈Varhung~聲之身〉，同時，該組藝術家也推出為本次海外展量身打造首度公開的作品，於蒂摩爾部落石板屋前重現斜坡上的四步舞。

於開幕現場，臺灣書院代理主任何慕凡表示，這是臺灣書院第三次與希利爾藝廊合作，但卻是首次聯合臺灣的美術館舍及其典藏於希利爾藝廊展出，很榮幸能促成這次跟高美館的三方合作，促進更深度的臺美文化交流。希利爾藝廊創辦人David Furchgott亦表示，對於美國喜愛藝術的觀眾來說，能看到臺灣原住民當代藝術家如此精彩的創作，無疑十分令人振奮，期待展覽在當地社群產生迴響。

International Arts & Artists and the Hillyer Gallery present the special exhibition “Fluid Boundaries: Four Artists from the Pan-Austro-Nesian Arts Festival.” It’s their first time working with the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, Taiwan. The exhibition is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and coordinated by International Arts & Artists, TECRO’s Taiwan Academy and Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts.

The exhibition reflects the fluidity of the artists’ self-identity, accentuating cultural characteristics that are in a constant state of flux. These groups of artists all identify with Taiwan’s indigenous people. Through a quest for their own identity roots, they elaborate on their feelings in their artworks, bearing a unique interpretation of the island’s history.
The exhibition features 4 artists from Taiwan, including Idas Losin, Labay Eyong, Chang En-Man and Tjimur Dance Theatre. The “Black Moon-Island," “Tatara” and “Enclosed Island” presents artist Idas Losin’s emotion towards the island's and her quest for self-identification. In “My Body is Half of a Mountain” and “My Traditional Costumes are not Traditional” series, artist Labay Eyong shows her own insignificance and weaves her love for the mountains and Truku people into her works.

Theatre’s exploration of ancient culture through “integrating song with dance,” “guidance through voice,” “breathing transformation,” and “voice creation,” an exhibition with performing arts at its core. Tjimur Dance Theatre also specially filmed a dance in front of Paiwan slate house for this exhibition.
