"Homo Faber’in ‘the Distance of Poetic Space is Between the Homo Faber and the Flaneur’ is a word originated from Latin as the meaning of "tool-making man", while ‘Flaneur’ means stroller. When a piece of art is in the display venue, it gives birth to an undefinable subtle distance in aesthetic perspective, which is the poetic space.”

今年五月,大雋藝術非常榮幸推出林俊彬個展《詩意空間的距離在創造之人與漫遊者之間》,匯集多件《鋼彈系列》最新大作,同場也將展示《微笑兩次的幻覺》系列,以及未曾公開發表的《赫斯特的蝴蝶畫》系列作品,盡攬蟄伏近四年的創作成果。對林俊彬而言,藝術品宛如一個多元而不受侷限的工具,因循目的造就不同的功能,就像一把萬能鑰匙,能解鎖你的一切欲望,無論是品味的彰顯、視覺的驚嘆亦或精神的共鳴,其樂趣就在於,漫遊者終究能在之間找到自己的出路!
This May, Rich Art Gallery proudly presented Lin Chun-Pin’s solo exhibition, titled as “the distance of poetic space is between the Homo Faber and the Flaneur”, bringing together with the latest works from the "Gundam Series" along with the "The Illusions of Double Smile" series and the first-revealed "Hirst's Butterfly Painting" series, showcasing his works of creation during four years of his dormant season. For Lin, art works are like a versatile and unrestricted tool that serves with different functions, depending on the purpose. It is like an omni function key that unlocks all your desires. Be it an expression of style, a visual marvel, or an emotional resonance, the pleasure lies in that whether can the “Flaneur” eventually find his way out among his works!
「文化盜獵」是林俊彬創作出發的核心概念,他以宏觀視角觀照時代現象,處理文化材料本身所折射出來的世界。如《微笑兩次的幻覺》系列他藉切割與加工村上隆版畫之行為體現全球藝術市場生態;《蝴蝶畫》系列探究不同生命經驗的觀測角度。而他最富代表性的《鋼彈系列》,則透過鋼彈模型零件構成主導語言,「鋼彈模型」不僅作為後工業時代及資本主義交互作用下的產物,同時容納了動漫文化席捲全球的歷史意義。藝術家在其表徵之上引用東西藝術史與流行文化符號,進行拼組與重合,試圖在當代藝術語境裡探究時代的價值觀,從預設好的界限裡,進行框架再詮釋的可能。
"Cultural poaching" is the core concept from which Lin's creations begin. He observes our contemporary social phenomena from a macro perspective and processes the cultural materials in order to reflect the contemporary world. With the "Illusion of Smiling Twice" series, for example, he metaphorically embodies the ecosystem of global art market by cutting and adding more work on Takashi Murakami’s prints; and with the "Butterfly Painting" series, he explores life experiences in different perspectives. In the "Gundam Series", his most representative works, he forms Gundam model parts as a language. Not only symbolize the "Gundam models" as the product which was brought upon as the result from the interaction between the post-industrial era and capitalism also carry the historical significance meaning of the global sweep of anime culture. The artist takes the symbols from both Eastern and Western art histories and pop culture to juxtapose and reassemble them in an attempt to probe the values of our time in the context of contemporary art, and to reinterpret the framework within present boundaries.
視覺經驗是藝術家內在意圖與觀者外在接收彼此交會後的痕跡,有形的作品作為一種媒介,將其包羅的無限意涵激發出來。無論依據什麼文化材料進行訴說,林俊彬通過對媒材特性淋漓盡致的表現,與表象之下「符號背後的文本為何?」的提問,刺激觀者對既有思考模式重新洗牌,置身持續騷動的詩意空間裡,意猶未盡。
Visual experience is the trace left after an artist's inner intent and the viewer’s external reception met, where tangible art works, as a medium, induce its infinite abundant meanings though viewer’s experiences. Lin’s unreserved expression with the characteristics of whatever cultural material and his question for viewers "What is the text behind the symbol?" triggers them to rethink and reform their existing modes of thought and contain untold implications for them while they find themselves in the continuously agitating, poetic space.
